A day after lawmakers and organizers made the decision to cancel Sunday’s South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade – and the annual breakfast that precedes it – for the first time in 26 years due to concerns over the spread of the coronavirus, residents and business owners in the neighborhood had mixed reactions to the news.
The Irish American Partnership has cancelled its traditional March 17 2020 Breakfast, scheduled for Boston Harbor Hotel. Citing "deep condern for the healtgh an welfare of our members," IAP CEO Mary Sugrue announced the decision of the group's board, "after consultation with public health officils and following the lead of the City of Boston."

New England Irish Dance groups are invited to compete for a chance to perform on stage at the Boch Center Wang Theatre prior to the April 1 performance of the international Irish dance phenomenon, “Riverdance,” which is back by popular demand in a brand new 25th Anniversary production, March 31 - April 5.
Mayor Marty Walsh announced today the city has cancelled Sunday's St. Patrrick's /Evacuation Day Parade.

Sunday's St. Patrick’s Day breakfast in South Boston— hosted by Senator Nick Collins— is moving back to a familiar venue and will be broadcast live on TV and radio. Sen. Collins announced today that the annual political roast will be televised on NESN and WEEI 93.7 FM— the first live radio broadcast of the event in many years.

United Way of Greater Boston & Merrimack Valley CEO Mike Durkin received the Paraclete Founders Award in Feb 27 2020 ceremonies at Boston College High School.
