Masses to continue at Catholic parishes, but with new guidelines issued by Cardinal

Cardinal Seán O'Malley today issued new directives to Catholic parishes in the Archdiocese of Boston that ask the community to "call on faith and reason to meet [the] challenge" of COVID-19, which he said should lean on "public authorities and the scientific/medical communities [to] guide us with facts and advice and we are called to respond to policies and programs they recommend."

O'Malley said :"We will continue public celebration of daily and Sunday Mass," calling it "a necessary source of support for the community."

Irish American Partnership Cancels March 17 Breakfast

The Irish American Partnership has cancelled its traditional March 17 2020 Breakfast, scheduled for Boston Harbor Hotel. Citing "deep condern for the healtgh an welfare of our members," IAP CEO Mary Sugrue announced the decision of the group's board, "after consultation with public health officils and following the lead of the City of Boston."

Local dancers invited to compete for chance to perform in Riverdance when it returns to Boston

 

New England Irish Dance groups are invited to compete for a chance to perform on stage at the Boch Center Wang Theatre prior to the April 1 performance of the international Irish dance phenomenon, “Riverdance,” which is back by popular demand in a brand new 25th Anniversary production, March 31 - April 5.

Boston's St. Patrick's Parade cancelled; political breakfast also called off

Mayor Marty Walsh announced today the city has cancelled Sunday's St. Patrrick's /Evacuation Day Parade.

"Boston's St. Patrick's Day Parade, scheduled for 3/15/20, is being cancelled," the Mayor said in a tweet late this afernoon. "This decision is being made out of an abundance of caution to ensure that we are doing what is needed to keep the residents of Boston safe and healthy."
