Commentary: Postal workers deserve our gratitude, support

As a college student growing up in Dorchester, I had the good fortune of working for the “P. O.” while I was in school. In those years, many people worked in seasonal, 15-day jobs at Christmas, helping to carry the high volume of Christmas cards and presents. Sometimes, the mail was carried to homes twice a day, morning and afternoon.

Cummings Foundation in major reach-out to Irish groups for 2021 grants

One of Greater Boston’s leading philanthropies is reaching out to non-profit within the broader Irish community to apply for grants to support their efforts.

The Woburn based Cummings Foundation plans to disburse $25 million in grants, and is currently encouraging non-profits to submit letter of inquiry. The inquiry period will be open until September 4.

Commentary: Markey’s leadership on climate sets him apart

Massachusetts voters have a lot on our minds as we approach the Sept. 1 primary and November’s general election: a pandemic, a struggling economy, and racial tension, among other things. But if we are going to take the long view, we should keep one issue, climate change, at the top of our mental list.
