WGBH presents its annual A St. Patrick’s Day Celtic Sojourn with Brian O’Donovan in five venues this year with six concerts total. As with A Christmas Celtic Sojourn, the tour will begin at Rockport’s Shalin Liu Performance Center on March 11, back to Worcester’s Hanover Theatre for the first time in years on March 12, continuing to Northampton’s Academy of Music for the very first time on March 13, then our annual shows at the Sanders Theatre in Cambridge on March 14, and concluding in Beverly at The Cabot Theatre on Sunday, March 15. Since 2005, A St. Patrick’s Day Celtic Sojourn has introduced a wide range of new and familiar musicians alike to audiences eager to celebrate the holiday in the true Irish style. This year’s cast showcases exquisite musicianship from groups and individuals representing the wide range of approaches to Irish music. The Murphy Beds (Jefferson Hamer and Dublin’s Eamon O’Leary), Co. Kerry’s Clare Horgan, the twin fiddling of Nathan Gourley and Laura Feddersen, accordion player Chris Stephens, choreographer/dancer Ashley Smith- Wallace, and of course Music Director Keith Murphy. For over three decades, local, regional, and national broadcasts of Brian O’Donovan’s radio program A Celtic Sojourn have proven extraordinarily popular. This concert follows the established format of the long-running A Christmas Celtic Sojourn production, which played to over 14,000 people in Boston, Worcester, Rockport, and Providence in December.
