Nov 14 Event to Benefit Family of Mickey Conneely

A committee has formed to host a fundraiser for the family of Michael "Mickey" Conneely, an Irish-born member of the Laborer's Union Local 223, who died suddenly last March. Jim King, Mickey's longtime friend is heading the group which will host the event on Sunday, Nov 14, 2- 8 pm at Florian Hall, Dorchester. Dance tickets are $20, and proceeds will benefit the Conneely family, which includes his wife Jeanne (Heaps) and their two children.
"Since Mickey passed on, his friends got together and decided we had to do something for Jeanne, Michael and Alice," King said. "Like many of us, Mickey had no life insurance and having been unemployed for an extended period, the family had used up most of their savings. So we decided to do for Mickey’s family, what Mickey would have done for any one of us – we decided to help – help ease the burden of trying to raise a family after losing a husband, father, provider, help show his family how much their loved one was also our love one."
The fundraiser will feature entertainment by Margaret Dalton and Erin's Melody, music by DJ Dan Hallissey and Irish step dancing from the Forbes School of Dance. King said the committee had lined up a wide array of silent auction items, featuring a week stay at a 4 bedroom home in Roundstone, Connemara, Ireland; Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics game tickets; and many original paintings by local artists. An account has been set up in Mickey's name at Mt. Washington Bank; donations may be sent to Friends of Mickey Conneely Foundation. c/o Mt. Washington Bank, 708 East Broadway, South Boston, MA 02127.
