Iconic Fleadh gathering revival at Boston’s Suffolk Downs Sept 6,7

Seisiún, an Irish music and cultural gathering, will be presented at The Stage at Suffolk Downs on Saturday, September 6 and Sunday, September 7, 2025, in partnership with The Bowery Presents, Liam Lynch and Joe Killian.

Featuring The Pogues and Boston’s own Dropkick Murphys as headlining artists, Seisiún will bring together a unique two-day festival experience, blending the very best of iconic Irish music with vibrant, emerging talent with essential American artists who share a kindred spirit with this rich genre.

The Hold Steady, The Waterboys, Cardinals, The Rumjacks, and Lisa O’Neill are among the first bands confirmed to play Seisiún, with additional artists to be announced. This is the first time the founding members of The Pogues have performed in the US in almost 20 years, since the passing of their former frontman, Shane MacGowan in 2023. The band will celebrate its entire body of work while honoring Shane, leaving space for alchemy and magic from very special guest performances.

"To celebrate the 40th anniversary of our second LP, Rum Sodomy & the Lash, a veritable super session of musicians, a Last Waltz if you will, we will gather to rekindle the music on the record with a new fire including The Pogues themselves and members of band that have come after, such as Lankum, and featuring such incomparable artists as Lisa O'Neill, John Francis Flynn and The Bad Seeds,” said The Pogues members Jem Finer, James Fearnley and Spider Stacy.

“We are stoked to return to Boston, pretty much a second home for The Pogues in the US -a city where we have shared many unforgettable performances and experiences. We're looking forward not just to raising a glass or two but also to raising the roof with our fans and friends, old and new, to celebrate the music we've made and the alliances we've formed over the years.”

“It’s great to have such a big-time Irish festival back in Boston,” said Ken Casey of The Dropkick Murphys. “It’s gonna be an awesome weekend with friends and family, and we can’t wait to split it with The Pogues, who we have so many great memories with.”

Tickets are now on sale to the general public via AXS.com, the official ticketing outlet for The Stage at Suffolk Downs. Visit StageAtSuffolkDowns.com for more information. Co-founders of Seisiún, Joe Killian and Liam Lynch, were two of the original founding producers of the Fleadh Festival, a late 1990’s music festival inspired by the revival of interest in global Irish culture, which debuted to 60,000 people on New York City’s Randall’s Island in 1997.The Fleadh played Suffolk Downs in 1999 to over 30,000 people, andl featured Van Morrison, Sinead O'Connor, Elvis Costello, Tracy Chapman, Natalie  Merchant and others. The Fleadh Festival is now regarded by the music industry as a significant benchmark for modern day, multi-stage North American music festivals.

“We’re launching Seisiún at a time when Irish culture is once again witnessing another rich revival and resurgence. There is such an exciitng wave of extraordinary cross-category Irish music talent,” explains co-founder of Seisiún Liam Lynch. “With this two-day event our hope is to reignite some of that same sense of gathering, of revelry and of community, while also tapping into that emergent new interest in the genre. Let the music keep our spirits high.”
