++ BOSTON IRISH HAS CONFIRMED THE PLANNED TRIP TO IRELAND BY LABOR SECRETARY MARTY WALSH HAS BEEN POSTPONED.++

US Secretary of Labor, Marty Walsh to mark centenary of Seanad Éireann in first official visit to Ireland 

US Secretary of Labor, Marty Walsh will address Seanad Éireann on Wednesday, 14th September 2022 as part of his first official visit to Ireland as part of the Biden administration. 

Secretary Walsh is also Vice-Chair of the White House Task Force on Worker Organizing and Empowerment. He holds dual American and Irish citizenship. He is an Irish speaker and a frequent visitor to Ireland, with family roots in Connemara. 

Secretary Walsh accepted the invitation of the Cathaoirleach, Senator Mark Daly, to address Seanad Éireann as part of Seanad100, a year-long series of events marking the Seanad's centenary.  His Seanad address will take place on Wednesday, 14th September at 5pm. 

Commenting, Senator Daly said "It is a very special honour to welcome Secretary Walsh to address Seanad Éireann.  He has been a passionate supporter of the Northern Ireland peace process and an influential voice for Ireland. As Secretary of Labor, Marty Walsh has amplified his advocacy for Ireland and is one of our most powerful voices in the United States."
